Cartagena, the city of joy.

Cartagena de Indias is the colorful Colombian city, located on the Caribbean coast of Colombia.

It is a colonial city founded in 1500, which takes its name from the homonym Spanish town.

Thanks to its tropical climate it is hot all year round, but from May to October it is the rainy period.

It is an excellent destination for seaside tourism, but not only in fact it has also a beautiful old town, UNESCO heritage site since 1984.

It is surrounded by walls that once defended the town from pirate raids and inside the city there are colonial buildings with balconies adorned with bougainvillea vases, cobblestone streets and magnificent churches.

In the recent past it has managed to maintain its wealth, despite the fight between FARC and colombian government has caused damage to other Colombian cities.

It is the city of open-air masterpieces and for dancing salsa.

Who had the pleasure of visiting Cartagena tells of love at first sight. This city is charming and cheerful, characterized by bright colors of  buildings and the irresistible perfumes of street food.

Where to stay? I am fascinated by the Hotel Capellán de Getsemaní, a 5-star boutique hotel in the city center.

What do you think about Cartagena? Yes or no?
